Test pilot Lt.Lt. Stan Sismey conducted circuit tests in the prototype Sunderland K4774, the exact reason not stated as he was serving with the top secret Marine Aircraft Experimental Establishment, Helensburgh. However, this entry is interesting. It is one of the last recorded flights of K4774, the MAEE test aircraft since 1938. During early April 1944 it ceased flying after sustaining damage on a local flight. Source: MAEE flying logs which also show that while at Helensburgh Sismey flew Catalina FP258G on a number of occasions. This modified Catalina was used for MAD trials, Magnetic Anomaly Detector. Sismey is better known as the Australian test cricketer. I also have a Ft.Lt. Fox testing aircraft at Helensburgh in 1944. and seek confirmation who he might be?
