    I don't think I even had a computer then.
None of those members from 10 years ago are left.
Well Paul Reed pops in now & again.

There was also a thread about your first post. They were quite funny compared to what you know now. My first question was about the massacre at Wormhoudt :p

I joined in May 2005. The first forum I had ever been on.

It was very scary to say the least with so many knowledgeable members especially as there were not many Aussies on board.

The forum has turned out to be a very rewarding investment and meeting up with a few members on my trip to the UK and Europe in 2011 was a highlight. I only wish I could have met many more.

Now my 21 year old daughter is living in London and working in a Tavern in Kings Cross while my 29 year old daughter has just become engaged.

Thank you WW2talk for providing an outlet and keeping me sane for the past 9 years.

    Cheers

Oy you lot - no use trying to hide - have a look at my joining date - but first have your glasses sand blasted - methinks I MIGHT
just be the oldest Veteran on the forum with only 6600 postings…

    Cheers

During 2004 (and up to 2006) some of us were busy as volunteers for the BBC "People's War" forum, which took up a lot of research time for tome.

I see I joined this forum in 2008 (13 March) and - at the the time of making this post - I am a long way from making 1000 "Active Posts" (however they are defined).

Do I get promoted if I make it to 1000?
    :salut:

You recall correctly that some of us were busy with the BBC war series as indeed was I along with Ron Goldstein - Peter G and Frank Mee we were known as the gang of four and did a tremendous job over three years in helping others only Frank did not change
over… my articles are still available for the BBC series below

    Cheers

A great achievement with BBC People's War.
Just a shame they got rid of the search engine (one of mine and Ron's pet hates  )

    Jos
Well done with your input into the series.
Sorry no prizes for 1000 posts  . (It's not the number of posts one makes anyway, it's the quality)

I remember that feeling Geoff. I joined in June of 2005. New to the internet, not just to forums. I do think though that with the relaxed (on the surface) but hard as nails (underneath) moderating, the place is a lot more accomodating now

I wonder what the founders would make of it all ? I can't imagine that it's exactly what they were aiming for. Has it become a WW2 equivalent of the GWF ? (I'm still too intimidated to join there...)

By the way, how does one find one's oldest post ?

I joined some time in mid 2004 and I think the Wise www.ww2talk.com forum probably started in early 2004
