I was recently given a bag of some 60+ old postcards from years gone by.Some of them are written and still have their stamps attached. Heres a few to amuse yourselfs with. Graham.
Used to always get some of these in 70s Scarborough as a kid. Mum hiding them from granny... Been watching the Two Ronnies on Netflix. British smut has seen a serious decline.
I understand they were selling at the rate of 16 million a year in the 1930's. Some are very collectable,Bamforths especially. Graham.
"The Old Stump Inn" just gave me a fit of the giggles. Good honest smut and as Adam says, the standard has gone downhill. The element of surprise is so often lacking these days. Maybe those of us who grew up with 'Carry-Ons" and The Two Ronnies simply have minds that are conditioned that way.
The Crystal palace fire, before and after.Original photos, reprinted as postcards. Note the gentleman observing the ruins. Graham.
This batch of postcards were produced by Kenneth Carr, who lived in Temple Road, Surrey. Pamlin Prints was made up from the names of his wife Pamela and son Colin (PAM-LIN). He started producing postcards in 1960 in a basement flat in Coome Road, Croydon. Kenneth Carr died in 1996. click on the images to enlarge. Graham.
