Thanks for posting the link noodle - your father did very well to keep up at that pace; a sprightly 92 year old.

    Best,

    Steve.

    Hello all,

A fascinating read. I've recently become interested in the NH and I'm currently trying to put together a WW2 era officer's service dress uniform for the regiment. All the badges and buttons seem to be in white metal so are fairly rare. It's interesting to note that the NH seem to have retained their own coloured ("dress") field service cap, which was light blue and dark blue. The ORs' caps were piped with white, but I've never seen an officer's one. Various sources say they were piped in silver, which makes sense, but I've never seen one. Does anyone have any pictures of one or of officers' uniforms more generally?

If I might add my thoughts on the arm badges, it could be that the musuem was right in a way, as the "Royal Artillery" shoulder arcs were the last of the arm badges to be introduced for wear on the battledress (sometimes in late 43, I think). The chap in the picture is wearing austerity pattern battledress which wasn't commonplace until 1942 but it could have been taken before the shoulder arcs were introduced. Thoughts anyone?

    All the best

    Graham
