Hi I am trying to trace information on Uncle who was one of the unfortunate people not to return from Cassino. He was in the 2nd Battalion of the Northamptonshire regiment and was killed in Minturno on 31 Jan 1944 after the Garigliano crossing. He had neen on active duty with the regiment since late 1941 as far as I can make out.
Hello Paul, I have a couple of regimental histories from 2nd Northamptons. What was your Uncle's name ? I'll see what comes up for the date. Is he on the Cassino Memorial ? It lists casualties from quite a wide area.
Have a look at this thread. Lots of info on 2 Northamptons at that time there. http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/general/10471-can-anyone-help-me-2nd-battalion-northamptonshire-regiment.html
