Normandy Bunkers, Casemates and Tobruk's

    These pictures were taken around 1960 on the Island of Sylt.

    I thought that they were remains of U boat Pens, but may be just part of the Atlantic Wall. The town in the background is Westerland we were based on the airfield that was to the NE of town and with in walking distance of the beach .So these Bunkers must have been fairly close to town

    It now seems completely built over looking on Google and can find no evidence of them.

    On another note ,When we arrive to mount a Major Exercise from the Island we were told it was a Nudist beach ,this was greeted with some derision,But it was true certainly opened my 20 year old eyes.[​IMG] [​IMG]
