Sorry for troubling you Andy on Saturday afternoon , had this notion that we would miss "Hillman".

Wonderful James. Hillman covered an area approx 600 meters by 450 meters. Not one bomb or shell had landed on it. For a short while after it was taken, we used it as a base. Somewhere that sally forth into action and, where we could use as a "harbour" but we never went inside. we made our base in between the blockhouses.

    Great photos!

Gerry, Peter and Gunter standing in for the POWs.

Not an exact likeness but "going for it" on that particular day would have been rather life threatening ! :) ( Traffic wise).

Had intended to visit the Museum at the fortress but it was closed.
( Visiting a local WW2 collector in the region was much more interesting , 23 fully uniformed mannequins both British and German plus a huge working collection of German radios and Luftwaffe blind flying equipment all linked up and all in working order - utterly amazing.
Sorry I cannot post photos or details as the gentleman is a very private individual and this has to be respected.)

But... Optical communications display - Wehrmacht-Awards.com Militaria Forums

    for a look.

Omaha, just a short distance from our usual "stand".

    Robert,

    Outstanding photographs.

I just love the Kettenkradt photographs. They have given me some ideas for my 1/6th model.
