Hi James The one below will be the one that was rejected - posting here for clarity as his middle name is shown and hopefully others will also be able to discount him from possible searches England & Wales, Civil Registration Death Index, 1916-2007 Name: Norman Stanley Wills Death Age: 75 Birth Date: 10 Feb 1923 Registration Date: May 1998 Registration district: Wandsworth Inferred County: Greater London Register Number: E76A District and Subdistrict: 2561E Still looking for the real Norman TD
The real Norman Wills in terms of James's search England & Wales, Civil Registration Birth Index, 1916-2007 Name: Norman Wills Registration Date: 1923 Registration district: Birmingham Inferred County: West Midlands Re-registration Year: 1923 Mother's Maiden Name: Baker Volume Number: 6d Page Number: 577 Checking against the 1939 Register birth date 9 Feb 1923 He also had a sister Joyce 2 Apr 1927 - 1984 (Sandwell) a brother Stanley 10 Apr 1929 - 1991 (Solihull) Still no death cert though - I have sent a message to someone who created a tree with Joyce and asked the question if they have any more details of the family TD
OK also found his marriage details (I hope) England & Wales, Civil Registration Marriage Index, 1916-2005 Name: Winifred N Bayliss Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1943 Registration district: Birmingham Inferred County: Warwickshire Spouse: Norman Wills Volume Number: 6d Page Number: 158 Winifred also appears on a family tree and I have also asked that creator if they have any further details TD
James I note his wife died in Nottingham 2001 and also one of his sons also died their in 2012, so started searching for a Wills that died in Nottingham sometime from 1945 (last son was born then) and have come across what I think is his death certificate England and Wales, Death Index, 2007-2015 Name: Mr Norman Wills Gender: Male Age: 87 Birth Date: 1922 Death Date: 28 Oct 2009 Residence Place at Death: Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England Postal Code District: Ng11 I note he doesnt have an actual birth date and to me it is an "about" 1922, however I guess obtaining a copy of this would help as it might show his son as an 'informant' etc Name: Winifred Nellie Wills Death Age: 80 Birth Date: 1 Oct 1921 Registration Date: Dec 2001 Registration district: Nottingham Inferred County: Nottinghamshire Register Number: G82A District and Subdistrict: 6891G Name: Mr David Peter Wills [Son] Gender: Male Age: 67 Birth Date: 1945 Death Date: 3 Aug 2012 Residence Place at Death: Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England Postal Code District: Ng2 TD
Sorry TD was looking at another thread before replying on this one TD thanks for all your help Regards James
Hope it works as it doesnt show his exact date of birth, and even the year is not correct - be interested to know what they say. We can provide them with a trail of evidence if they want, birth, marriage, 1939, childrens births, deaths TD
TD Unfortunately as he died in 2009 I won’t be able to access his records for another 16 years, as he needs to have been dead for 25 years Thanks for your help Regards James
Not sure about that - my Dad died in 2001 and sent off for and recd his records in 2002. If you have a death cert then the application should be valid, if you dont have one then perhaps the 100 year rule or 25 year rule comes into play Under the scheme, and in recognition of the duty of care owed to the family of the deceased subject, for a period of 25 years following the date of death of the subject and without the consent of the next of kin, MOD will disclose only: surname forename rank service number regiment/corps place of birth age date of birth date of death where this occurred in service the date an individual joined the service the date of leaving good conduct medals (for example, Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (LS&GCM)), any orders of chivalry and gallantry medals (decorations of valour) awarded, some of which may have been announced in the London Gazette So they will disclose quite a bit of information, you will only receive FULL records after 25 years OR with consent from the next of kin TD
Next of kin and family can apply anytime. Researchers need to wait 25 years Thanks for all your help Regards James
TD Just spoken to MoD unless I can find a Nok to grant permission I will need to wait 25 years Many thanks again Regards James
I recently sent off for the records of somebody that died in 2013. I didn’t have any NoK consent and completed the requisite forms. Unfortunately the date of birth that was given on the death certificate was incorrect (4 years out) and to compound matters I didn’t have a service number. I therefore also sent a copy of the birth certificate, explaining the error on the death certificate, and I received his records within a couple of weeks. I was quite surprised at the level of detail that they provided me with about his military service. If you have his death certificate apply for his records!!
I already know name service number date of birth and where born, I wanted to confirm his medals as I have his medals (all un-named ) and issue box. I also wanted to find what ships he served on, Regards James
