That's weird, as the 'blueness' appears to be random!!

It was purple & blue for me!
Hoggene's post had picked up some code from the article the link was taken from, which VB had identified as 'Turn everything Blue!' - probably my fault for missing killing HTML on this forum!

HTML disallowed & a quick edit to the post - all clear.

Do you have a Vet Association near by in America you could contact. I don't know if there are any schemes in the US.

I saw on another forum (Bike) the other day you can sponsor a vet....I'll dig the link out.

I was wondering if the Forum would be interested in sponsoring one by way of contributuions from members? I'd be happy to stick a tennor in :)

    I'll get the link...

Here we go...I'm assuming its a genuine site

Edited due to the site looking dodgey

    The Overlord List

Hmm - if it is a genuine charity I would have expected to see details of the charity. I can't even find a contact address, telephone number, let alone a Registered Charity number.

Perhaps this is an oversight by the site owners, but I would urge people to check before making any donations, and especially before handing over card or bank details.

Cheers Paul I did wonder as I posted it up. I wonder if Phil has heard of them?

I've been around the site and tried to make a donation.....It goes straight to a Paypal account and there is no tax rebate thingy which as far as I'm aware all charities have.

    Cheers

I checked the charity commission site and it's not listed. Not a 100% guarantee but always worth a shufti if enquiring into charities.
    Charity Commission Homepage

Did a whois lookup and no easily confirmed details there, but this is most likely because the site was only registered last month and is still pending full registration.

However; further Googling implies it's connected to a Devon area branch of the NVA & the secretary of the NVA.
Presumably a friendly email to them would confirm bona fides for what looks like a very well-intentioned cause.

I found an address in one of the downloadable pdf files.

Its some company in Covent Garden, London. Call me a sceptic but once I get a doubt I'm hard to be turned around....I don't trust anyone I'm affraid :D

If you click on 'ABOUT' you can download some files that are essentially copies of letters about the fundrasier

The trouble is anyone can put up a site that claims to be raising money for something, that is why the Charities Commission has strict guidelines. Plus a Paypal donation is not good, as there is a cut-off period in which you must complain if you are not happy about paying for something and it should have a Gift Aid option; genuine charities rely very heavily on this. I paid via Paypal for a donation to Comic Relief last week, and the Gift Aid was very obvious indeed.

No help for D day veterans

Reading through this thread emotion seems to play an enormous part of the comments
that have been made and political points being scored about the government being heartless but in all fairness its already been stated all veterans were financed to visit their old battlefields in 2004 that included the D day vets and every other theatre of war so why are they any different we all fought for the same thing although some were a lot further away than France
I understand that many of you will give me some flak but so be it when I was demobbed I asked for nothing and that’s exactly what I expected and got

    Regards niccar
