This got a mention on another forum. The No.68 grenade was designed to be fired from a rifle in conjunction with a cup discharger and special ammunition. My understanding was that these only became available to units during the first half or so of 1941. However it was noted on the other forum that they were in production during 1940, which is earlier than I thought. I wondered if any of the BEF specialists have seen any mention of the No.68 being used in France at all? Gary
It would seem unlikely as issue of the Mk I did not begin until Mid 1940 and this was superseded by the Mk II in August. Large scale production (of the Mk III) only began in 1941
Interesting document The Home Guard Pocket Manual, by Capt. A. Southworth, M.B.E. Home Guard Pocket Manual No. 68 AT Anti-Tank Rifle Grenade - United Kingdom "began in the middle part of 1940" - so unlikely to be issued to BEF TD https://zeticauxo.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/No-68-Rifle-Grenade.pdf
