Thank you Harry I may put that book on my wish list. I probably have no hope of ever finding out who my maternal grandad was in that squadron but interesting to know the history of the time.

I belatedly came across your message on WW2 talk.

There is an active veterans association and record keeper in France for the 2 Free French squadrons 347 & 346. the President is Monsieur Paul Bogaert, with their office at the French Aeronautical Society in Paris and is called the Association des Anciens et des Amis des Groupes Lourdes.
He can be contacted via email paulbogaertatyahoo.fr - replace the at with @

    Hi,

Just as an update on 25 September 2018 at 11.00am at the Aero Club de France in Paris, a presentation will be made by Monsieur Paul Bogaert (President of the Association des Anciens et des Amis des Groupes Lourdes (French heavy bomber veterans association), to the Aero Club's President Madame Catherine Maunoury of a sizeable frame containing debris (retrieved during the late 1970s) from the wreckage and crew photographs of Halifax III LL587 (Zoupinette /Jadabri) that crashed near Kettering on the night of 22 January 1945, attempting to return to it's base at Elvington, killing pilot Lt Petus (29 missions) and Flight Engineer Sgt Tribert. Incidentally Monsieur Bogart's late father was a mid-upper gunner with 346 squadron in 1945. Due to the generosity of the Aero Club's President, the framework will be on permanent display at the Aero Club de France in Paris.

The commemoration and presentation will be for veterans, their friends and families and those who wish to show their respect to the crew members who died in the Free French heavy bomber squadrons in 1944-1945.The organiser is Paul Bogart can be contacted as:

President of the Association des Anciens et des Amis des Groupes Lourdes
    Aero Club de France
    6 Rue Galilée,
    75116 Paris,
    France
