During the weekend of 26-28 July 1985 I was invited to CXX Squadron's very first reunion at RAF Kinloss, Scotland, the following are just a few of the photos I took. Self at the CXX crew room, don't have so much hair these days and not quite as slim.
Left to Right.... Dr Charles Claydon CXX M/O 1941-42 John Felix Waite GM Wireless Operator Air Gunner Fred Hollies. Wireless Operator Air Gunner. Survivor of the crash of Liberator IIIA LV341 Z/120 Bob Fallon. Flight Engineer Sadly none are still with us. The photo was taken at the Loch Ness Monster Exhibition
Some good piccies there, Peter. Sadly, the former home of CXX - more recently the home of Kinloss Wing VPI (Maritime Patrol International) - was demolished a couple of weeks ago. All bar XV244 and XV 240 have since been turned into bean cans; although I suspect that the P3 lurking in the background of one of the photos is still flying! No CXX Sqn finally disbands on 26 May 2011, alongside No 201 Sqn and No 42 Sqn, at a drumhead ceremony at RAF Kinloss in front of our Honorary Air Commodore, HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. That will signal the end of the UK's fixed wing maritime patrol capability. Roxy
Peter Did yoiu manage to get a guided tour of the nimrod? great photo's thanks for the post. I did indeed get a guided tour of a Nimrod and very impressive it was too.
This is the guided tour Nimrod of the 1985 reunion, also got a tour at the 2003 reunion, for some reasons I didn't take pics at that one.
