Please could you tell us the NA reference for this find. It is the first time I have seen a War Diary for a POW Camp in Britain, or is it a private non accessible document?

EDIT. I have now found the reference, which is WO 166/17820.Looking at the sequence this file is in there are only two blocks of numbers 16292-16307 and 17805-17834. East Yorkshire is well represented. There could be someone who views these and could find out something of their previous use as US POW Camps in Britain?

JB Thank you for posting this. Perhaps there are more War Diaries out there for other camps that can be found. The FO UK camp records can be sparse or non existent, so as Tesco used to say, every little helps.

Thank you for your posts. Maybe my post will also help others, even if it's possibly not helping me. Sometimes these forums are a place to give as well as to take.
Most, if not all, German POWs who died in Britain were exhumed and buried at Cannock Chase. While there were obviously deaths in Britain from natural causes, wounds that did not heal and murders by other prisoners, road traffic accidents and workplace deaths, the death rate was remarkably low in comparison with other countries.
