Hi everyone I have a casualty in Greece in 1945 who was evacuated to the "No. 1 Mobile Military Hospital". Searching in Google finds it was in North Africa up to 1943. I was wondering if anyone can tell me where it was in late 1944 and early 1945. Its probably either Italy or Egypt as that's where the vast majority of casualties from Greece were evacuated to. Thanks in advance. Gus
Hello, I've got a list of hospitals in Italy and no. 1 isn't on it. Try 'googling' British General Hospital N.1 and see what comes up. Vitellino
Gus The answer to your question is contained in the topic British General Hospital Locations started in January 2010 on this site Sue Light transcribed and republished the contents of File WO 220/1563 held in the National Archives Kew which gave details of 122 RAMC major Hospitals with dates and locations. According to her researches 1 General Hospital RAMC deployed with the BEF to Dieppe (France) from September 1939 to June 1940. It was then in various locations in England (Leeds, Plymouth and Liverpool) before deploying to Kantara (Egypt) in July 1941. It was finally disbanded there in January 1946
Hi Bluebell Minor I searched the website you mentioned and I can't seem to find anything called "No 1 Mobile Military Hospital" Was a "mobile military hospital" just another name for "British General Hospital"? Gus
