I stumbled across this site while doing some family history research and I hope you don't mind my using this thread for help and bare with me as this may seem vague.

My Oma was sent to the south of holland to be hidden during the war, as her mother was of jewish descent. My Oma wrote a book recounting her life at this time but she often altered or totally changed names in the book although I have noticed a pattern which makes it easier to figure things out(she even slightly altered town names and spellings!)
She wrote about living with a couple in Nijmegen in 1944 and she wrote about the times when "the germans were driven out of Nijmegen by the English, but the germans made a stand at Arnhem and from there attacked Nijmegen and the surroundings.." She then mentioned the people she lived with and "Mr Jager and Mr Maas now had some kind of job for the English, they were driving an ambulance wagon. The car originally was a hearse but was now converted into an ambulance" and at this time the germans were still attacking Arnhem.

If anyone has any suggestions to help me find information on the people operated this hearse ambulance at this time it would be monumental for our family as my Oma never talked about the war and has since passed on. IT would mean so much to know who the people were who took her in and saved her from an awful fate like her relatives. I should mention i live in Canada so it isn't so easy to do in person research in these areas right now! Thanks so much!
