Anyone who maybe can tell me how he ended up in The Neterlands, or where in NZ I could ask for info about him?
Phillip - you could try this - it's only 50 volumes - only a small section though for "Artillery' - all I could find was first war chap.... The Official History of New Zealand in the Second World War 1939–1945 | NZETC
Haven't got a clue. Maybe a released POW? Maybe you could email these people. RNZA Assoc Membership and Contacts Just as a matter of interest, I saw another Louisson of the RNZA served in Vietnam, wonder if that was a relative? <TABLE cellSpacing=2 cellPadding=0 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD>40736</TD><TD>Gnr</TD><TD>Louisson</TD><TD>DCC</TD><TD>161 Bty</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> NZers serving in Vietnam
Phillip, for what its worth I would lean towards Owen's theory that he was a PoW. Not sure if he would have been released or not. I would be interested to know about him, so if you come upon any info could you please post it here. Nothing wildly new but interesting to note they have his age listed as 34. http://muse.aucklandmuseum.com/databases/Cenotaph/RecordDetail.aspx?SearchID=985329&Ordinal=1&OriginalID=28723 and here is the CWGC listing http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=2961603

Gnr.Louissons Service History Sheet should be available at Trentham.
That link Andy postes gives his unit as 7 AT Regt RNZA, of 2 NZ Div. 7 Anti-Tank Regiment One gunner was not decorated but rebuked for indifference to danger that amounted to foolhardiness.79 79 Gnr C. If I fibd out any more I will let you guys know, maybe he escaped from POW,strange however that he "ended" up in Nederweert War Cemetery, anyway someting to dig in to. ADM, is this army records Trentham NZ?
Looking at another Kiwi who was at Stalag 8A, I see they did forced march in March 1945. Sound: POW's and forced marches | NZHistory.net.nz, New Zealand history online
I wonder??? Noel Coward's "Blithe Spirit". The lead role was taken at the last minute by the producer, Dan Bosman, who gave a great performance, ably supported by Arthur Arnold, Jim MacFarlane, Bill Bicketstaff, Charles Louisson as Madame Arcati, Len Wear as Ruth Condomine, and Les Davidson as Elvira the Ghost. Stalag VIIIA

ADM, is this army records Trentham NZ? Hi Philip, yes NZ Base Records are at Trentham, not far from Wellington. I visited a few years ago. What I will do is to try and get a copy via a friend. Brian
Philip, Not relevant to his service I know, and totally irrelevant to the question, but checked ancestry records for him. He appears on these passenger lists with his mother, and there are also Louissons in Hawaii. [/IMG]

Just got this info Gnr Louisson was previously buried in Margraten US Military Cemetery and that he was a former POW (held at one time in Stalag 8A Gorlitz), captured in the Middle East.
Just got this info Gnr Louisson was previously buried in Margraten US Military Cemetery and that he was a former POW (held at one time in Stalag 8A Gorlitz), captured in the Middle East. Well done Philip for finding this out. Let's hope he is finally at rest d
Indeed dbf, still hope to find out how he ended up in the Netherlands, were I think he probably died of wounds?, somewhere in Limburg
Looking at another Kiwi who was at Stalag 8A, I see they did forced march in March 1945. Sound: POW's and forced marches | NZHistory.net.nz, New Zealand history online There is a problem trying to pin down the location of a P.O.W. U.K. Records show where they were Registered, but those of lower rank such as Pte.or Gnr. could be many miles away on work details. Even if you get the number of the detail it could be located at various places at different times. If the man did die on the March perhaps it would be mentioned by one of those who survived.
Diane, I can't make out the date of that Passenger Manifest or anything for that matter. Where was he going and when? What class of cabin was he in? It all adds to learning about the person.

Owen, Best I can do at this hour, hope it's OK. There are other Louissons who turn up on the search, but with vague info, ie initials only. Interestingly one travelling from Wellington NZ arrival 17 Apr 1907 Sydney, NSW, and from London arrival 16 Nov 1910 Sydney NSW, is named as Hon. Chas. Louisson. Not Cecil the father then.
