It's taken them that long to issue it?
Similar to the new British DPM too.

New uniform unveiled - British Army Website

UK Armed Forces are to be issued with combat clothing to improve their operational effectiveness. The new uniforms include the first change in 40 years to the British camouflage pattern.

Uniforms in the new pattern will be issued to all personnel deploying to Afghanistan from March 2010 and issued more widely to the UK Armed Forces from 2011. The roll-out of new clothing will also coincide with a change in clothing cut, to provide coherence with new ballistic protection systems.

Not behind at all, I think everyone is getting into the grove at about the same time after the Americans adopted MC.

New combat uniform makes troops job easier

All Australian troops operating 'outside the wire' in Afghanistan will don the new 'Multicam' combat uniform following positive feedback from a Special Forces trial.
Minister for Defence Materiel Jason Clare announced the extension of the trial today during his address to the biannual Land Warfare Conference in Brisbane.
The Multicam combat uniform is a different camouflage pattern to the current Australian combat uniform and is also worn by US troops in Afghanistan.
Mr Clare said the feedback from Special Forces troops has been extremely positive.
"Special Forces soldiers have said this is the uniform they want to wear," Mr Clare said.
"The camouflage pattern provides troops with greater levels of concealment across the range of terrains in Afghanistan – urban, desert and green.
"It also makes it easier for our troops to do their job."
The Multicam shirt and trousers have elbow and knee pads built in to reduce soft tissue injuries; are cooler and designed to be worn under body armour; have a padded waist band to make it more comfortable under webbing or a field pack; and have more pockets and a stretch fabric at the joints.
Mr Clare said Defence has made an urgent order from the United States to get these uniforms to troops in Afghanistan as quickly as possible.
"I have also instructed the Defence Materiel Organisation to pursue the purchase of a licence to provide for the potential manufacture of this uniform in Australia if the extended trial is successful," Mr Clare said.

:confused:As the Afghan terrain is mixed , Urban , desert and cultivation , Why cant they have a reversable uniform ie. turn it inside out one side greeny shades t'other side sandy shades , instead of a one shade fits all the world terrain sort of thing , and will it be made by British workers in the UK or subbed out to China or some other sweat shop country for cost effectiveness. ......just a thought ! after a few pints of real Ale down the Pub.

Ps slight thread creep about UK forces uniforms , not the Aussie Kit

reversable kit - difficult when carrying bergens, kit and body armour. To stop, remove everything and then pull your smock and trousers off and inside out, would make you very vulnerable.

Normal DPM makes you stand out in sandy, empty areas; and desert kit stands out in the green farm lands - the new multicam blends in very well with many backgrounds
