    Hi Lee,

I have found since the changeover that opening/skipping between posts whilst previously immediate, now takes 10 seconds minimum up to 20 seconds. Is anyone else having this problem?

Done some testing and cant see any delays from my pc, anyone else?

Hi Lee. Can't get the hot topic board to work in the portal when I click on a topic. Cheers.

I haven't noticed the boards being slow. Maybe Geoff it maybe that you are just a long way from the server?

I have monitored the server pings and they are quite stable.

    Geoff,

could you do the following for me:

from windows go to the start menu and select run, then when the window pops up type:

    cmd

that opens a dos prompt (black screen), then type:

    ping -t ww2talk.com

let it run for a minute or two then press ctrl+C

I am interested to know what the part in bold below comes back as:

    Packets: Sent = 42, Received = 42, Lost = 0 (0% l
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 155ms, Maximum = 169ms, Average = 157ms

    Hi Lee,

Got called tot he door so it ran a little longer.

    Packets: Sent = 604, Received = 604, Lost = 0 (0% l
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 193ms, Maximum = 606ms, Average = 202ms

202ms is fine, but it does say the max was 606 which is not so good. That said no packets were dropped. It may that there is some network issue between you and the server.

What you could try is tracing a route from you to the server and see if it slows down anywhere

follow the same procedure as before but type

    tracert ww2talk.com

This will return every single route to the server and tell you in ms where it slows.

hhm, yup, looks like somewhere along your route there is a fault. Its not stopping you getting to the site, just delaying it.

I would have expected you to see other sites slowing as well though. Not just this one.

    Thanks Lee.

The digger history site in Australia is virtually instantaneous flicking pages.

I have a main computer inside and my laptop outside in the office. Maybe a problem with the network settings?

I have a problem getting on to the CWGC site lately. Do you know if it is down?

Hi all I am back after an absence due to loss of broadband connectivity (MS updates finally broke the WA USB driver - this after many earlier updates degraded its functioning requiring a work-around, one which no longer works) in the middle of a family crisis.

Having reset my password I now wish to change it to one of my choice (using my preferred method of mixing alpha and alphanumeric characters). I am having trouble with the Edit password dialogue (acessed via User CP>Edit Email & Password).

Having entered the present password and the required new password twice in the respective New and Confirm fields and selected Save Changes I go to a message 'Please complete the required field "Email".'

Now I have looked on the password change dialogue carefully and see no such field. Have I missed something obvious?

Well that is a relief, at least I am not that stupid.

    YOMV

I was beginning to wonder if my brain was giving out after setting up this new laptop with OS, 2 user accounts, software installs (all those product keys - heck!) and connecting via P2P and WEPed networks.

One way of getting round a murdered driver I suppose!
