At 48 tons, it is too heavy.

Once upon a time we had a German Panther MK 5 on staff and we enjoyed firing their special 75mm back at them for a while - until we moved - then we tried to

get it over a Bailey bridge- THEN we discovered that the Panther only gave us ONE INCH on each side of the bridge - which meant that we had to unload TWO men

to guide it through - the weight was also close to that of the Churchill which was always dodgy……so are the Russians building new and better bridges…? as it

looks BIG and HEAVY - and will the crew be looking for targets while their auto gun is firing…that should be fun as ONE helicopter could solve that problem...

    Cheers

That site understates the weight of compared tanks there. Leopard 2 in fact comes in at 60+t (as does Challenger 2), and Current gen abrams is (I think) c.55t.

I suppose the T14 weight is an estimate, but if accurate, quite restrained for modern MBTs. Are you an advocate of lighter machines more generally? Seems to be a current vogue for reconsidering the usefulness of lights and mediums.

Since WW2 and the advent of helicopters as Tank killers - I have held that MOST Tanks are now obsolete as by the end of the war the life of a Tank - and it's

crew was away under half an hour - must be measured in seconds to-day…….very expensive seconds...

    Cheers

First impression is: how did they manage to make an unmanned, autoloader turret larger than their old manned, autoloader ones?

Won't know how good it is until some see service in eastern Ukraine.

is that the same one that broke down during the May Day parade? a bit of a embarrassment , probably with the crew being assigned to some nasty duties after

It makes you think though, that perhaps in the near future this tank is likely to be fully remote controlled, just like the Drones are at the Moment.

Unmanned drones Shooting up unmanned battle tanks

There is still a need for the A-10.
