Hi all, i would like to introduce myself a bit here,i've been reading a while on these forums as a guest and thought it was about time to introduce myself. i love reading all the veterans stories and all the ongoing disccusions,im particulary intrested in the german fallschirmjager (trying to gather as much info as possible ) and a bit less in snipers in ww2. cheers, gijs (btw im from holland so please forgive me any spelling mistakes)

Yes, welcome aboard and apart from reading and hearing of servicemen, you can now view some artwork (300 pieces) that were done by dad as a POW in Changi (along with many Dutch) at The Changi POW Artwork of Des Bettany | Prisoner of War at Changi, Singapore Dad often talked about wearing wooden clogs with steels on them as a school kid in Burnley, Lancashire, UK, so not only the Dutch are cloggies but also the UK mob. Here in Australia we wear thongs (I think you call them flip flops), we call them 'Japanese safety boots'. Have fun and keep in touch, Keith
