I have discovered the original photographs, of the battle of Sollum Pass, Sollum Bay (1943) as well as about 70 other original war photographs taken in and around Egypt (1943), Lybia (1942) and Port Suez (1941).

These photographs belonged to my grandfather Henry Strydom, born 2/11/1901 in Johannesburg , South Africa , who was stationed in and around the Med. Sadly not all photographs have been captioned at the back so the significance of them are somewhat lost on us since his passing, but there are truly remarkable photographs of prisoners of war, public hangings and executions, burning ships and aeroplanes, which, should you be interested, I will gladly share. I also have many group photographs and the whereabouts of the landmarks in the pictures and the uniforms, insignia on the Stukas, Mathildas and Battleships may be of much interest and significance to you but sadly are lost to me. I have attached some pictures.... Henry Strydom.jpg
I have looked at your navigations and headings but are not sure in which category they would fall as they encompass a wide spectrum of topics. Some guidance would be nice.

    Welcome to the forum.

Could I suggest you post the material in the North Aftica & Med sub forum of the Theatre of War forum as all the material you mention is from the actions in North Africa 1940/43.

    Hi Steve,
At the risk of being too eager... I have posted in the Theatre of War, North Africa, can I also specify topics like War at Sea or War in Air or will I be duplicating and flooding the site with my photos?

    Hi Christa,

    Thanks for posting the photographs.

Re additional Posts - It's all down to your personal preference.

You could sub divide your posts into army, navy and airforce themes.

If it becomes a bit overwhelming a moderator may intervene and consolidate them once more but by all means post in the forums you mention.
