With so smuch content on my sites related to world war 2 and the fact that there are a few sites, I am going to bring everything together under 1 site, that will be ww2network.co.uk.

I have been looking at designs for this and would like opinions on this template.

So what do you all think?

    Looks good lee.

What will happen, will all sites be redirected to this url? If so will it be clear to those who get redirected where they need to then click so they dont think the forum has been taken over or closed?

    Who is the GDA?

    Cheers

Not going to change the forum for the time being, going to move all my other content from other sites first.

I will more than likely just create a link to this forum as its so well established at this address.

The text is just rubbish to fill up spaces at the moment.

    Brum,

Can you give me some more details of what happened?

Connection speed, where it crashed, etc.

I am trying to balance nice design with load speed, etc...

Try it at the correct location here:

    Thanks

    Hi Lee,

I am on an ADSL connection provided by Belgecom, in Belgium. The original link froze my mouse controls and disconected me but did not crash the computer (which is running on windows 98 Millenium addition) The new link worked fine. I could not say for certain that the link was the fault of the disconection but it seemed to half load and then the page froze and the mouse buttons stopped working although the cursor was still mobile. Hope this helps, as I say no problems with the new link.

Windows 98 Millenium (Windows ME) - that is a good source of problems in general ;)

May I please put in a plea for 'dark text on light background'? It seems to be increasingly fashionable to use dark backgrounds and I'm sure that I'm not the only one who finds them difficult to read. You can't do better than the old black ink on white paper for legibility!

    Kind regards

Thanks for the feedback, I will tone down the background colours to be more black on white :)

Just thought I would show you the theme that will go with the new site.

You will still be able to use the current skin for the forums, but this one just adds a nice match to the network site.

Well I know many people with windows XP and that is totaly crapy and useless so is windows 2000 any good ie better than 98 ME and worth upgrading too.

Not trying to hijack your thread Lee just one off the beat question I promise.

Thats okay, I can add my 2 pence worth as well.

I never really used windows Millenium as it seemed to come and go quite quickly in the Windows range, I use Linux as my preferred operating system but have XP pro installed as nothing more than a games platform.

I would say that the most stable and arguably the best of the windows range is 2000, I could quote many reasons for this. But what I would also says is that Millenium is just a cut down version of 2000. In essence as long as you have the latest explorer browser installed (ver.6) then your browsing abilities should be no different to that of XP.

The benefit of upgrading to 2000 would be for the advantage of the networking tools not much more, so unless you need those I dont think it would make much difference.

XP will be more compatible with software as most companies design with compatibility of XP in mind first so you would "technically" have less problems in general with XP than millenium.

As I say my choice for everything except for games play is linux, now someone I spoke to recently said Linux is too difficult and its very complex, that true of the past but now, SuSE linux 9.1 is very "windosey" it looks and feels like windows and its open source and comes with 5 CD's worth of software that cover your every whim, of course with it being open source you can use every program free unlike windows, for those doubters take a look at this recent article:

How is that for aking this totally off topic?
