I would be grateful if you could expand on what details you found to prove to the CWGC that Thomas was on board the Bjornvik. The only details I had came from a family member Mr. Barry Morgan, who I am in contact with who states Thomas ran away to sea age 16 and was on his first trip after signing on board the Bjornvik at Newport. I received an email two days ago from the family explaining he had been officially accepted, but no other information

I am in possession from The National Archives of Norway part of the transcript from the Sjøforklaringer fra 2. verdenskrig, which details British Seamen lost from the Norwegian Notraships Fleet of WWII, which lists over sixty names who have been overlooked by the CWGC. I submitted these to the Commission over a year ago and nothing became of it.

    Billy

I cannot comment on this case as it had nothing to do with IFCP; sorry

    Thanks Chris,

I have emailed Barry Morgan and hope he can shed some light on the subject.

Barry Morgan came into possession of documents from the Norwegian Consulate General in the UK during the war years. These documents were held in Norway in the form of a transcript of a witness statement, similar to the Survivors Reports held at Kew. He sent me a copy of the documents, which were seven pages long and listed Thomas Davies as a casualty from the Bjornvik.

I have been back in touch with The National Archives of Norway and offered to buy the full book Sjøforklaringer fra 2. verdenskrig, which details British Seamen lost from the Norwegian Notraships Fleet of WWII in the hope this will suffice in having the following commemorated.
