New CWGC Commemoration - 21st March 2012

    CWGC added the following casualty to its database today.

    Rev. Leonard KENTISH
    WW2 Civilian War Dead
    Died 04.05.1943
    Reporting Authority: Malaya
    Commemorated: St. George’s Chapel, Westminster Abbey, London

    NOT FORGOTTEN

    The above casualty was an In From the Cold Project case:

    - Rev. Kentish was executed by Japanese forces in Dobo Island Dutch East Indies (Volunteer: Chris Harley)

    Well Done, Chris. A most deserving case. Quite a surprise that it slipped through the net as officialdom seems to have been more than aware of the circumstances.

    I think I can answer that one; the case for commemoration for these cases was down to the local authorities not national government. At the end of the day just a breakdown in communications

    I wonder how many feathers for your wings you receive for bringing in a Reverend?

    I noted two things in his file: [1] His full name was Leonard Noel KENTISH and [2] his remains were recovered and interred in Ambon Internees Cemetery.
