I'm not sure why Peter Jackson is writing the foreword, maybe he is a collector (Dambusters film?). Good news as I've been waiting for a new book from Robert Taylor for ages, he is the best artist around in my opinion.
Good news as I've been waiting for a new book from Robert Taylor for ages, he is the best artist around in my opinion. I find it hard to choose between Robert Taylor and Nicolas Trudgian both are very good artists. I have this by one Nicolas Trudgian hanging in the dining room.
I find it hard to choose between Robert Taylor and Nicolas Trudgian both are very good artists. I have this by one Nicolas Trudgian hanging in the dining room. Mine in the living room. He is also very good.
This painting hangs in my lounge. It is by Stephen Rooke who was commissioned to paint the picture for the No.120 Squadron 75th anniversary. It depicts the heraldic symbol of CXX Squadron, the white Gyr-falcon, the bird is named 'Nimran' the Arabic word for leopard reflecting the birds superb hunting skills. The aircraft depicted returning from operations over the Atlantic is Liberator I AM916 L/120.
Got my copy a few days ago, the same excellent quality as the other five. SCHWEINFURT - THE SECOND MISSION I would love this print. My fave so far in the new book.
No tanks Owen , mine are all aviation or maritime. Bismarck and Task Force by Robert Taylor. Kamraden by Mark Postlethwaite. Constant Endeavour by Michael Rondot. Aces High By Geoff Nutkins. Ausberg Eagle by Michael Turner. The Simon West and "Night Ghost of St. Trond" not sure where they are to go , the 110 is a small print I picked it up on eBay for very little money - signed by several NJG RK holders including Schnaufer's radar operator Rumpelhardt. Phillip West and a R Taylor Spitfire. The sketch / print of Ginger Lacy came in the post this am £5 on eBay , it is the comrade of the Luftwaffe officer shown in this same post. The Catalina print by Dr Arthur Banks - I bought this mainly for the signature of AVM Jack Holmes who was the first pilot into Lough Erne in February 1941 . In the past I have had some correspondence with Mr Holmes and just could not pass on this one Terry Bullock has also signed this print. The Halifax - because it was a Mk II and for the signature of "Bluey" Mottershead who has been Chairman of 158 Association , again I could not say no to this one. None of these three were expensive but I am happy to give them a home.
5 -6 still to frame and to find a place for , getting them on a wall will be a tad expensive - the down side.
Some lovely prints ....the Lancaster/Dams print and the "Hurricane Attack" are real eye catchers. Thanks mate.
View attachment 29340 My collection: Return of the Few by Stephen Brown ; Douglas Bader leading his Tangmere Wing home in 1941. V B and IX from the Norwegian squadrons 331 and 332, respectively. Both prints issued for Squadrons' 50th anniversaries in 1991 and 1992, both signed by former wartime sqd commanders, and both numbered 14 (of 331 and 332 prints), which is the call sign reserved for the OC Flying ! Quite pleased about those two... BTW all Spitfires, of course...
