I recently took delivery of a 1/6th Scale Dragon M4A3(75)W. The Commanders Ring Cupola arrives glued in position, together with the two front Hull Hatches for driver and co-driver hull gunner. A little time and effort and the ring was prised out and cleaned up. It now rotates as per the original. I did not want to press my luck with the front hatches but may try to open them up at a later date. The track, once assembled rolls very freely and I am happy with the way it looks as together with the Stuart they look well together. I have ordered some bits and pieces from Armorpax, white metal kits of the .30 Cal and .50 Cal MG's, with mountings, in order to upgrade both the Stuart and Sherman. I took some photos of the Sherman sitting on the Workshop shelf and will take more outdoors when upgraded and weather is warmer! The Sherman really is massive and I have now run out of storage room in the workshop . Attached some photos of the Stuart. I aquired a couple of early WW2 American Tankers, but the headsculps were a little too large for the helmets as you can see in the photos, the later shots show new headsculps and a better fitting helmet. Commander with map in hand and binoculars, scanning to find his position with his loader standing guard. Regards Tom
It looks very nice, but what period and service are you trying to do? I ask because of the mottled camouflage bundle on the back and the M3A1 version of the Grease Gun. I am no expert on clothing and equipment, but I always thought that the mottled stuff was confined to the US Marines. Also, the M3A1 did not appear until quite late (Dec 44) less than 16,000 being made before the end of the war.
TTH, The backpack is a US Marines piece of equipment that was aquired and just stuck on the rear. On the other hand it could have been "lifted" from a Marine detachment, what I call Artistic licence. The M4A3 was, as far as I am aware, used by US units and as I am light on American uniforms I have to go with what I have, which means 1944/45 NWE. The grease guns came with the two American Tankers I purchased a few years ago and the same model Tankers are no longer manufactured, so hard to come by. However the Grease guns do fit in with the timescale. Regards Tom
