With followers all around the country, STIWOT seemed a good solution to me for Geoff's missing headstones. The cemeteries are too far away for someone like me with no car, but there are a lot of helpful people around.

Seems a good chance with such a clear date. McKay would be my bet however there would have to be a bit of map work done but still difficult to be definitive.

Let us see what the detectives on here think!!!!!!

There were 15 Aussies killed that night over Europe with five on the Runnymede memorial. 77sq got a belting that night being 12 of the 17 deaths. 8 deaths were registered in Netherland cemeteries and the 5 on Runnymede would have been there also I would imagine.

    Hi Philip,

No I don't have that one and no other Australians are buried in that cemetery.

This is the only Australian listed as lost on that date with the previous losses of (4) on the Bremen mission on the 3rd of July 1942.

Would need further info on where he was found. Is Scharl cemetery near Delfzijl cemetery noted below?

Nope if you put straight line across it is 115 kilometres apart. And the former zuiderzee/ ijsselmeer was already "closed'off from the North Sea by the Afsluitdijk.
So I presume buried at Skarl, the body was found in the ijsselmeer, either by fishermen of washed up
