Fantastic effort Pieter - Thank you. Please pass on my thanks to your friends. I have listed them on the spreadsheet as the donors. Cheers Geoff
With followers all around the country, STIWOT seemed a good solution to me for Geoff's missing headstones. The cemeteries are too far away for someone like me with no car, but there are a lot of helpful people around.

Geoff Came across this unknown RAAF in Amsterdam (New Eastern) Cemetery. You probably have it, but if not. One to research.
Must get those three at Reichswald on here of the ones who were listed at RNZAF but were Australian. Need to find the piece of paper with their names on it!
Geoff Came across this unknown RAAF in Amsterdam (New Eastern) Cemetery. You probably have it, but if not. One to research. Seems a good chance with such a clear date. McKay would be my bet however there would have to be a bit of map work done but still difficult to be definitive. Let us see what the detectives on here think!!!!!! There were 15 Aussies killed that night over Europe with five on the Runnymede memorial. 77sq got a belting that night being 12 of the 17 deaths. 8 deaths were registered in Netherland cemeteries and the 5 on Runnymede would have been there also I would imagine. The other crew members are buried not that far from Amsterdam, except Sergeant Freemantle. I do not know if the cemetery registers mention anything about this unknown burial which could give a lead.
Hi Philip, No I don't have that one and no other Australians are buried in that cemetery. This is the only Australian listed as lost on that date with the previous losses of (4) on the Bremen mission on the 3rd of July 1942. Would need further info on where he was found. R.G Rowland is also buried there, it is also known as Skarl near Stavoren. Is Stavoren near DelfZijl?
Nope if you put straight line across it is 115 kilometres apart. And the former zuiderzee/ ijsselmeer was already "closed'off from the North Sea by the Afsluitdijk. So I presume buried at Skarl, the body was found in the ijsselmeer, either by fishermen of washed up
I think the date on the stone may refer to the date he was found/buried, don't you think? I realise that however it has to be the starting point. These are the difficulties that present went trying to match them up. Cheers Geoff
