I found these laying on the floor at a garage sale. They were glad to take a dollar each for them. That was the weekend before last and I have been doing research ever since. I think i nailed down the map bag and the ammo bag but the life vest and backpack are completely unknown and I need help! Thanks for any help you can give. James
Try posting on WW2F.com. There are a good many Americans there, including me. Unfortunately, I don't know much about US equipment.
From Osprey's US Army Combat Equipments 1910-1988: p1050239 is an Improved M1910 General Purpose Ammunition Bag with M1936 Carrying Strap. The map case is more properly a Dispatch Case, the illustration I've got says it's M1936 but yours may be a later version in a more olive, less khaki, shade. There's nothing like the rucksack in there...
Whatever they are with 1944 manufacture and judging by the condition doesen't look like they saw much use.
