Hi Guys, Hope you can help with this one! Saw a news paper cutting and photo a few years ago now and it was about a reunion of ex WW2 Para's who went back to Holland. For the life of me I can not find it due to all the moving But one of the chap had the surname of........yes you guess it "NEALE". Can anyone help with this or does anyone know of any Neale family members who served during WW2 in the Airborne. Any help with this would be most helpful. Cheers for looking :m2: Chris Neale.
Chris, not sure if this is the fella that you are relating to, ? http://www.parachuteregiment.co.uk/peopledetails.asp?pid=6261 P This article also refers to a Lloyd Neale Jack SHARPLES and 8 Platoon were close to the crossroads: We were dug in on the right of the road leading to Caen in a little orchard. Back in Larkhill, Private LLOYD Neale of the Platoon had been selected as one of the dog handlers and they were attached to the Platoon for the operation. He was in his slit with a dog and I said to him "That's not your dog" and he replied "No I lost him on the drop, this is one the Germans left behind" (In all probability the missing dog was picked up by the Canadian Battalion in 3 Brigade). A few days later Neale called out "We're going to be shelled, sir". I asked him how he knew, "Because the dog's trembling and he was like this last time" Sure enough, over came the shells, all airburst. 13th Battalion The Parachute Regiment: Luard's Own and you also have the following 7th (L.I.) Hi Phil, Many thanks for that, you have given me 4 new Neale family members who served in the Para's. I dont think any of them are the chap that I was thinking of though!
