Many, many years back,my husband contacted by phone the Naval Historic Branch when it was in central London. We were (and still are!) researching what Dad was doing in Singapore just before it fell in February 1942. A gentleman confirmed that the ship Dad escaped on, a waterboat called DAISY, had been briefly seconded into the RN. For him to have confirmed this presuposes he found a record of it. I have tried to google for information on it but without success. I think it must have been amalgamated into a larger research facility.

    Can anyone tell me:
Where is the Naval Historic Branch now?
    How can I contact it?
    Is it possible to visit?

Lol tried that and they say he does not exist! I think he did a naughty and signed on under his brother's or cousin's name!

It is very frustrating! If you google Dominic Michael Stringer you will see a raft of entries detailling thirty + years or searching his background and upbringing.
