Does anyone have a clue as to what Branch badge this is?I am assuming it is WW2 vintage. [IMG]

I don't recognise this as a Royal Navy branch badge. Any clues as to where it came from?

The style of the torpedo does not match those on WW2 RN and USN patches. The USN ones (dress Code 1941) are rather 19th century in shape and the RN ones whilst more modern have a different style of vanes/fins

Looks to me like something to do with minesweeping. Paravane and marker flag.

That's a thought but didn't the paravanes at the time have otter boards?

Not a minesweeping expert but I think the Paravane (although it should have wings) was on or near the surface with a flag marker and the otter hung some distance below controlling the depth of the sweep.
