National Service Pilots

    As a result of the imminent Cold War with Russia in the late 40's and early 50's, select National Servicemen going into the RAF became aircrew and ultimately flew Vampires and Meteors (Mk 7) via Chipmunks and Harvards. There were about 3000 pilots trained over a period of time. I have interviewed Norman Tibbet about his N.S. pilot experiences but I would like to learn more about the RAF aircrew training procedures during that period as I'm writing a series of articles for an on-line magazine and, as with all things, I must get my facts right otherwise......
