Yes, indeed. Built for Americans to train on the FT-17 at the Light Tank School at Langres, France. With the instruction manual supplied by Monty Python.

    That's rather interesting.
The look of an early unimog, but bigger & with a more North American feel.
Is it mineproof? High, & possible rollover roof.

I don't have too much info on it except the company name and model number. It's an American prototype from one of the smaller companies.

From memory it is a US 3 ton 4 X 4. Several firms seem to have made pilots but this is either FWD or Corbitt. (I had better qualify that by pointing out that I answer with a confidence I do not altogether feel.)

    That's right. It's a Corbitt F-27R 3 ton. I can't find any more info on it.

Right. It's a REO 23-XHS. I thought they didn't start the one piece hood and grill until the late forties but I was wrong again :)

They have got to be Federal trucks used for hauling pipes in the Middle East. Model number - not a clue. Progenitors of those lovely USAAF tractors and wreckers.

Great photos Bruneval. Wheels and Tracks magazine did an article on those great long distance buses in Iraq.
