He died in a car accident in Plymouth in 1982.
He was d squadron, 22nd special air service, as it states on my birth certificate, as he was my father. He was the first soldier from the ' armoured corps' (3rtr) to pass selection, the main coming from para's or marines etc. He is mentioned in "who dares wins", and various other articles.

Just to clear some bits up.
It's Bradbury lines, the old camp before RAF Credenhill, and Stirling Estate which was married quarters for serving members. The regimental clock has the names of the regiment's fallen on its four sides, (nick is on it), and was moved to Credenhill when the regiment moved.

    Hello Cal ,

The original poster Verrieres (Jim) left the forum many years ago but is aware of the circumstances of your Dads service and death . It was he who informed myself and my late Grandfather which enabled us to post the information in posts #43 and #44.
I believe he asked the original question back in 2008 and is as far as I am aware up to date with the findings but I will email him and let him know of your kind offer. As he doesnt have access to the forum he will not reply directly to you but I will pass on any questions to you should he still be curious.

    Kyle
