    Hello Gentlemen,
I have just received my Uncles Service papers from MOD (I have been waiting a year for them) There is a lot of information on them. He was in the KSLI 1st bt. and was KIA at Anzio during operation Shingle, Peter Beach. He was also mentioned in despatches.
I do have to downsize the records as I cannot fit them into my scanner, when I do to whom can I send them to for a translation?
I know that there are a lot of experts that can help me,and I would appreciate that. Thanks fellas

Hi Ken and welcome to the site.
Congratulations on getting your Uncle's records, the wait must have been frustrating.
I would suggest just posting the record here for best chance of getting some insight into it. There are many here who will be willing to help with your research.
Many Italy experts and veterans here and the MiD will allow some further leads.

    Good luck,

    Mike

Hi Ken and welcome to the forum.

Can you tell when he joined 1 KSLI?

I checked the National Archives for his MiD but its not listed (They only have around 2,000 I think). There is a very slim chance that it maybe recorded in the battalions war diary or there maybe a detailed account in the diary on what the battalion was doing at the time of him getting the Mention.

    Cheers
    Andy

    Ken.

I am intrigued that you think your Uncle was killed on Peter Beach. By 4 Feb 44, 1 KSLI were well away from the beach and up just short of Campoleone in what became known as 3 Infantry Brigade's Campoleone Salient.
