My grandad, John Thwaite served with the Border Regiment during the second world war. He landed on D-Day in the first wave onto Gold Beach, and also fought in Caen. He was finally wounded by a German Morter round somewhere in Belgium. I just want to know if anyone knows if his name is mentioned in any news papers from back then or anything? Or any regimental photos would be great.
