A comment was made last week that the "net" information provided by the Australian government is of a high standard so I thought I would put one of the parts from the Australian War Memorial site.

This was my fathers battalion. 6th Division / 19th Brigade / 2/8th Battalion.

Remembering that Australia had only militia like Canada et al, they could not be used for service overseas. This division was put together from volunteers very quickly and had fought the Italians, Germans and Japanese by war's end........read away!

Their colour patch was red & white (Blood and Bandages they called it).

Go on lads rub it in about how good your on-line records are. Both your Government and the Canadians have far more on-line research facilities than we do in Britain, we are playing catch up.
A constant frustration for me when researching soldiers and units of both World Wars.
Thanks for showing us what your relatives Battalions did. Fair play to them.
