Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in... Works mail order - just over £20 the lot, if you can face Hermes delivery.
Chris you started this mate so dont go all organised on us will you. piles are fine when they fall over (oh I think your books have fallen over again) then you can chose another read
The proud military heritage of the 2CV... (Replica 2CV GAHN I snapped at Beltring years back. Really nice job.) Never really thought about it but they're actually quite similar to Kubels really.
Having ridden in both types very similar but then both intended to be cheap, relatively rugged and easy to maintain away from a workshop. But being able to get a sheep in the back was never part of the Kubelwagen's requirements spec.
It also looks like a bit of a "Thing" to me. Of course though, my eyesight is as shot to bits as Robert's. And if any of you young 'uns mention Waldorf and Stadler there'll be hell to pay! Kind regards, always, Jim.
Well the drops appear to be working so I've just realised that the reason why the view out the window is still blurry is because I need to find a window cleaner! I got to ride in a Kubelwagen because a friend's step dad had managed to wangle the transport of one back from the Netherlands in 1945. I believe the same vehicle has appeared in a great many films over the years What's a thing? The Hummer looks like a Kubelwagen on steroids - is that it?
VW 181. Volkswagen 181 - Wikipedia Patty & Selma from the Simpson's somehow appropriate mode of transport.
The civilian model that was (maybe) just for sale in the USA post war. Hopefully Dave55 or dear Adam will dig up the gen. Kind regards, always, Jim.
Hard to find so not cheap. My copy is ex libris from Derek Howse, head of the dept. of navigation and astronomy National Maritime Museum, Greenwich so a step above my skill set. Has some great sections on Fighter Direction and German Maritime Radar Development. Updated version from Sturtivant's work
I shan't listen to you! This keeps me out of trouble! I bought a few sheets of what here is called "120 pound" card and some labels.
I would have typed them on a period-model typewriter. In fact, different typewriters to match the eras covered by the books.
I have my books sorted by size, which helps with getting more fitted in limited space, but doesn't help with topic organisation
Why French, anyway? I realise this categorisation thing is a bit tricky. Where do you put memoirs that involve North Africa and Italy? Africa and NWE? However, back on topic, I found this in amongst the old pulp novels in a used book store. There was also an old book on the Graf Spee and one on Tirpitz but I hope I will learn more from this one, about RN destroyers. Good lord, that original image was too large. Apologies.
