If it helps your conscience, give me the freebie - I think I'm short A13 and Black Prince
...of course you can('t).....
See what I did there?
Tried to start Christmas shopping online. Found a privately published memoir by Wavell's ADC.
Major Alexander Reid Scott MC (11th Hussars)
It came out in 2018, but I've never seen a copy before.
Caved on the spot.
This is not a support group.
This is the dark web...
Christmas present anyone ?
Watch out for bibliophile rings
Not 'arf - mine twitches everytime she picks up a bank statement...
A Christmas arrangement with someone called Lulu may have been hashed out.
How many times must one say 'Covenanter' before the word has been successfully noted?
I must practice my feigned surprise.
I read this book and it made me more than enthusiastic:
So immediately decided to order Balkoski's other two books dealing with the Fall Campaign of 1944 (Ninth US Army to the Rur):
Now I notice that he also has written some volumes about the Normandy/Brittany campaign ... ?
Yes, his Omaha and Utah Beaches books are well worth a read. Even the RN landing craft crews get a fair hearing!
He was 29 US Div's official historian until he retired earlier in the year.
You know, this really WOULD just happen. I bought Mark Hayward's book on the Firefly (and no question it's good) and Peter Brown has another book coming out, on the Firefly. This will be a lovely book for modelers or anyone who just wants to look at photographs. There are a bunch of sample pages visible here:
Armor PhotoHistory #6 Sherman Firefly
I really must get a new job so I can afford to buy this before it goes out of print.
Seem to be a couple of comparatively reasonable price copies of 'A View From The Turret' on Abe.
Certainly better than the usual c.£90.
9780953335916 - A View from the Turret: a History of the 3rd Royal Tank Regiment in the Second World War by Bill Close, Used - AbeBooks
Nice one. I'm on their mailing list so hope to get a notification soon so I can order my copy.
Is there any difference in the text between "A View From the Turret" and "Tank Commander"? I think they're the same book under different titles? (Also a copy of "Tank Commander" is also for sale there for £11)
Some interesting finds trickled in....and I may or may not have done some damage at NMP Black Friday sale that will darken my door soonish.
Don't think so.
It stretched the definition of 'bargain' a bit but it is the HB in close-to-unread condition:
Separate names with a comma.
