Clive - The Story of The Seventh Battalion The Somerset Light Infantry.(Prince Alberts) is a good one!! I also bought it and read (parts of) it so , no problem ... with this one
So my moratorium lasted all of two weeks. Curse you Abebooks and your want list. The following wants showed up for cheap(er) prices so how could I say no?
You got a copy of Tank Alert?!? I AM GREEN WITH ENVY. I wonder if this means you bought the copy that was flagged to my attention by abebooks a little while ago...
Hi Chris I think I avoided sniping you on that one Got it through amazon.com. I look on there for rarer titles because the listings are quite different than amazon.ca. Though some dealers don't have Canadian shipping available, I;ve found that they're quite willing once you chat to them. Cheers Mark
Had nothing to do today so decided to go to a book sale today (with $5 entrance fee) instead of tomorrow. I don't know whether these books would have been snapped up by tomorrow but I had a good time. For a land war guy there seems to be a lot of wingy things here. And I passed on a copy of Fighters Over The Desert - would that have been worth picking up? I do have The Desert Air Force In World War II by Ken Delve. But the library system has a copy of Fighters. I am very much looking forward to reading more about the Swordfish as I haven't read a broad overview of its development or service.
For some reason my eyes keep flicking up and down causing my mind to wonder, 'What's an ASS CATERPILLAR?'
To me, the book that sticks out is "A Soldier's Song" which suggests you should hum a few wartime favourites, even though I assume it is about something completely different.
Ahhh the three volume carrier collection, worth about 2 million on the open market....and never to be mine! Good on ya!.
Just looked them up again. Not exactly common on the market, are they... Last I looked maybe £50 a volume with a few still new in shops at original price.
Quick question concerning them. Are they very nuts and bolts a la the Knight books or do they get into operational use? Would help me decide how badly I want/need them
Nuts & bolts really, but such an, errrm, universal machine that they're not really like the Knight books - more wide-ranging. His website's still up, & still listing all three for a total of £110, which is probably what I paid over the course of their release: index
If you try and add them to 'Your Basket' on Nigel's website you get the message that they are all sold out. I picked up a copy of Volume 1 for £60 but had to pay between £120 and £150 each for the other two via eBay. Despite searching worldwide I could not find any available via a retail/online store. P
