    Sheldrake All over the place....

Just under ten years ago I was asked by an Irish Travel company to put together a WW2 London tour for an Irish group, obviously focusing on the role of the Irish. At that time the IWM was closed for refurbishment and the Blitz Experience had close down. So I visited the Musum of London's Docklands site.

Your images remind me of the visit. Yup they did have somehting of the story of London in war time and I recall an Anderson shelter.? But I could not use the site.

My recollection is that to get to the WW2 display you pass through a rather self flagelatory gallery about how the London, or rather its wealth, was built on sugar - and the exploitation of brown skinned people world wide. The fabric of London was largely built by a more local second class citizenry, the Irish. There was no mention of the role of Irish labour in building the docks - or the building which houses the musueum, or in WW2. Irish civilians were much of the labour force that built Mulberry Harbour and rebuild London after the war.

I wrote to the musuem director but did not recieve a reply.
