Interesting conclusions - worth a listen. Tom.
I heard that one in the car. Interesting conclusions - worth a listen. Tom. I would agree. Liked the bit about the civilians being healthier as most of the doctors were away at the front !
Missed that Geoff, sound interesting. What were (briefly) the conclusions? Mike Hi Mike, As Geoff said, one factor was that the new-born survival rate dramatically increased because doctors (whose preference was for potentially damaging forceps deliveries) largely left birthing to midwives whose more natural approach led to better outcomes - also living standards in the general population improved and life expectancy was extended as a result. Spanish flu was also a major factor accounting for more deaths than the war.....basically some of the unexpected positive effects cancelled out the more obvious negatives to produce much less of an effect on population than might have been expected.......why am I still waffleing on? - just listen to it! Tom.

Thanks Tom and Geoff, will listen if I get the time. Bit busy at the mo, too much driving and long hours on site too. Mike
