Could you scan No. 7 (group photo france) at a higher resolution? That way it might be possible to read the sleeve band (Grossdeutschland?) and make out what award(s) he got (probably Sturmabzeichen or Panzer-Kampfabzeichen?).
Are you sure this is France? The houses look East European.

Some random info on img No. 3:
    On the board it reads

(Potatoe soup with bacon for lunch, soft cheese, margarine and bread for dinner)
Yes I'll rescan that photo. Thanks for the menu translation I had most of it.
The story so far is that my Grandfather started his service in the German Army first as a cook because of his one leg being shorter than the other. Then when times became more desperate he was moved to field service in France. Still don't know in what capacity or branch. Do you have any idea of where that resort might be. Those pictures are on the same pages as the kitchen pictures.

Sorry, no clue. Are there any other pictures or do you have any further info (on the back of the photographs, a date, an area...) that might narrow down possibilites?

Unfortunately all those photos are pasted on to the pages.

Did you ever contact the WASt for further information on your grandfather?
