Came across these photos on another forum: boards.ie - Now Ye're Talkin'

They are of Summer 1945 and show the wreckage from the fighting piled up as scrap in front of the town's railway station.

    Ger,

Looking at the third photo, the tank in the background looks like a damaged German Panther minus several wheels.

I tried enlarging but the quality deteriorates.

Perhaps I am wrong but the overall shape looks Panther to me.

I would imagine it is a Panther Tom. we have a Tiger II and Mark IV in the foreground. The photos are supposedly from Summer 45. The second photo has what are described as Hungarian Tanks, but I'm not familiar with them.

The front left tank looks like it is a King Tiger due to the shape of the Turret.

:D These particular pictures are photographs from my collection. There's quite a few copies of them out there as the negatives are - I believe - stored in local archive, Znojmo archive that is.

And yes, as you've guessed we have Pz.IV, Kingtiger Henschel, that turetless Panther G and Flakpanzer IV Moebelwagen and Bergepanther. Then in the background we have motley collection of German and Soviet types like Jagdpanzers IV/70, Hetzers, T-34s, ISU-152, SU-76s and more types which can't be seen on those photographs.

The units which those vehicles belonged to were Feldherrnhalle/Feldherrnhalle 2, 25.PzD. 13.PzD, 6.PzD, 509.sPzAbt amongst the others and some of the vehicles, most probably, have seen action in Ardennes, around Balaton, Budapest and Vienna.

And when at it, here's a link to a photogallery. There are some more pics from that railway station - and much more:

    FiSe,

Superb photographs. The area looks like a Tiger II Graveyard!

There were few of those large tanks scattered around alrite. Pity that none of those survived the end of 40's :(
The pictures are not in great quality, but friend of mine is putting together a book over the last years about units and combat in that area at the end of the war, so hopefully, he's got some cracking stuff.

    Missed this.
    Great stuff FiSe.

I particularly like this shot - always interested in the horse-drawn Wehrmacht:

Some very nice clear halftrack shots too, do keep us posted if your friend produces a book.

    Cheers,
    ~Adam.

A much more realistic shot of what the Wehrmacht were actually like as opposed to photos of fleets of Panzers that some people tend to drool over when talking about the German forces in WW2.
