Hi all. just rereading Dads diary for March 1944, during and after the fly-in and there is a good description of a smaller group going with David Monteith and apparently blocking the Irawaddy, waiting for supplies which failed to turn up, hunger for 5 days etc and trying to contact 1st Kings for next orders (led by Scotty).
Has anyone got any diaries for the period after this, as this one stops?... I think they carried on to Kohima but no idea really! Perhaps they went to help in White City, but again this ends on 24th march so too late perhaps....
Did the two columns ever meet up?

  2. David Monteith was my uncle so this is really interesting to his nephews and nieces- thank you.
Would be very interested to see your Dad's dairy description of his 'smaller group' details.
    Regards

Hi Charles , sorry I missed this, haven’t been on here for a while. As I have given away the original material can’t copy the account here. However I think you would find it interesting and you can find it in my book “Before the Show” paperback or kindle. In fact it is the last part of my father’s diary before he stopped writing, my father was devoted to David and was devastated when he was killed. I did the research beyond..the group went on to White City and Mogaung..nowhere near Kohima!
