It is very noticeable that many musicians and actors from the 'Swinging 1960s' are still employed in their chosen professions. Maybe this is the fall-out from the [so called] cultural revolution started in the 60s. But it is good for old people like me to see some of these old guys & gals still rockin' Recent film examples that we have enjoyed include "Golden Years" (2016) and "Finding Your Feet" (2017). In Golden Years a pensioner (played by Bernard Hill) accidentally robs a bank, and then develops a taste for it. Yes, there is an element of good old fasioned British Farce about the plot. Finding Your Feet is centred around two 'chalk & cheese' sisters and the realisation that retirement is just a new beginning (...which is just what we like to hear!). And we also recently enjoyed "The Party" (2017) which put me in mind of "Abigails Party" from the 1970s. Both feature the dialogue and character studies of a small group of slightly wierd people. The Party is a black & white film with a multi-national cast of 7 (presumably to improve interest on both sides of the pond). It features Timothy Spall as an old fella who reveals a shocking secret. I guess you might call it a black comedy drama (or maybe a "tragi-comedy" as Mike Leigh once described Abigail's Party). It would make a great stage play.
I prefer the Harry Brown starring Michael Caine - hes a much better actor than that Cane bloke TD by the way - did you know that ..........................
