  1. Dear All

Just been made aware of this. The MoD is looking for views on the further release and digitisation of service records. A team from MoD were at the National Archives User Forum on the 16th February and a recommendation concerning the form and format of future service record releases will be made in September 2016.

The briefing note can be found here http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documents/20160216-mod-service-record-study-tna-uf-briefing-note.pdf

There is an email address for views to be sent at the bottom of the document with the instruction that 'Statements of views can be submitted before or after the event by email to DBSKI-RecordsPubEnqTeam@mod.uk. Please include "MOD SERVICE RECORD STUDY" in the subject matter heading of the email.".

Views are not just sought on access/digitisation of individual records but also about the possibility of looking at groups of service records related to units/geographical area etc.

There are some really exciting and innovative ideas in here so I urge everyone to give MoD their views on this.

    Regards

    Justin
