During the battle at Pt 188 and LE MANOIR on 3rd August 1944, the Bn took up defensive positions having completed a successful night-attack.

Throughout the day, these positions came under heavy mortar and artillery fire, which preceded an attack by tank and infantry.

This NCO, together with one other signaller, remained in control of the forward communications of the Bn and maintained continuous contact with all stations working under the most hazardous conditions throughout the whole battle.

His perfect coolness and complete devotion to duty made possible the highest standard of intercommunication and use of supporting arms throughout this engagement.
