I may be/am thick but I've been trying to track down details of a FRED GUEST (Gunner 14861036) who died on 13th October 1947. His grave (a CWGC headstone) says he was in the 48 Field Regiment of the Royal Artillery...but everywhere I look seems to suggest that there was no 48 FR at that time. I must be missing something. HELP!! Casualty
RA Regiments were renumbered in early 1947. 48 Field Rgt was renumbered from the wartime 19 Fld Rgt and went into suspended animation in Feb 1959.

Derek I have an excel spreadsheet listing all the Battery Name changes from the 1947 changes. Infact, the information, which was gleaned from The Gunner over a number of years covers the period from 1905 onwards and lists the major title changes (where applicaple) for the years 1900, 1914, 1939 and 1960 (when the original list was published in The Gunner. If anyone wants a copy, PM me your e-mail address and I'll send one across. Phil
