Does anybody know if there is an online database of airmen listed as Missing in Action during May 1940? I have seen previous references to a book by W Chorley, but not sure if this will help me Thanks again
There is a list on this thread. See post #16. http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/war-air/4028-raf-losses-1940-a.html Ah, sorry that all casualties not just MIA.
I have seen previous references to a book by W Chorley, but not sure if this will help me Thanks again Mike, I have 'Bomber Command Losses' Vol.1 1939-1940 - W R. Chorley. I also have 'Fighter Command Losses' - Franks, covering the same period. If you think they will help please let me know. Regards Peter.
Thanks both for your response - my query is in relation to an earlier thread about a member of 53 Squadron who was shot down in May 1940. Have located his grave in Faumont Cemetery (near Lille) and so am trying to find out (by process of elimination) who might be buried here in Quorn,, Leicestershire. As I mentioned in an earlier thread - a body was washed up on the Essex coast and wrongly identified as FS Payne (only ID was the name on his shirt) - a long shot I know, but would be nice to get to the bottom of this mystery
